Vine Street Plaza and Carousel

Vine Street Plaza and Carousel

Universal Contracting Corporation was selected as the Construction Manager of Smale Riverfront Park Phase 4, beginning with design development in October of 2013. The highlights of Phase 4 include the following:

Carol Ann’s Carousel
Built at the foot of Vine Street, the “Crown Jewel” Carol Ann’s Carousel, consists of 44 hand-carved figures, each representing some significance to Cincinnati’s culture or heritage. The carousel, measuring 46’ in diameter by 20’ tall, is housed within a 70’ x 90’ glass facility and open year-round for all to enjoy.

Pichler Family Fountains
The Sue & Joe Pichler Family Fountains includes three interactive water features. A 61-head splash-and-play feature is located just outside of the Carol Ann’s Carousel, along with three overhead rain curtains flowing down from glass balconies, and 2 cascades at the Vine Street grand staircase. All of the features are illuminated at night capable of showcasing 16 million different colors. The 26,000-gallon surge tank located below the plaza holds the excess water, while 2 miles of piping filters and recycles the water beneath the surface.
